In my ample free time, I've been writing the pilot for an online series based on the Woodland characters. It's a situation comedy that rests somewhere between a Nicktoon and FOX's Animation Domination in overall content... smarter than, say, The Fairly Oddparents, but with a stronger emphasis on physical comedy than The Simpsons.
I don't know what will come of the script, since my knowledge of Flash is rudimentary at best and I lack some of the resources I'd need to turn this into a full-fledged show. However, I figured that since I've come this far, I might as well go that extra step and draw character models for the (still entirely conceptual) show. From left to right, we have:
A genius for her age, or any age, Elle is the only member of the cast who's acutely aware that she's in a cartoon. She's often the most rational member of the Sanders family, despite being three and only faintly toilet trained. Elle spends a lot of time warning her family of impending doom, only to watch helplessly as they ignore her advice and march right off the cliff anyway.
BYRON J. LENNOX
A doorbell baby, found on the Sanders' porch a year ago. Byron has a reputation as a prankster, engaging in the kind of comic mischief that would get an adult banished to the Phantom Zone. Byron is massively strong for his age, a fact that only becomes evident in unexpected moments or dire situations when a Deus Ex Machina would really come in handy.
A single mother and accomplished computer programmer, the demands of the latter often interfere with the responsibilities of the former, forcing her to leave the kids with sitters. When she's around, Ada is selfless and well-intentioned but has all the foresight of a mayfly in winter. Generally carries a Flash Drive around her neck, which comes in handy more often than you'd think.
GLEN GLENN SANDERS
Ada's kid brother is a slacker, spending more time partying with friends and getting lost in his favorite music than doing anything productive with his life. Nevertheless, he's got a good heart and will pinch hit as a sitter when needed. Glen won't set the curtains on fire, but might suggest a better color for them! He's a casual user of chocolate, Woodland's gateway drug.
Sarah is a college student with a tidal wave of hair and a peculiar fashion sense. She's often recruited to watch the kids while Ada is away, and her easygoing yet maternal personality makes her the perfect skunk for the job. Sarah is often accompanied by her ditzy caracal friend, Lynn.
